Improvement
OCPP 1.6 Heartbeat interval is now 24 hours instead of 4 minutes
Monta now tracks whether a charging station is online from its WebSocket connection, so stations need far fewer Heartbeat messages.

What's new
The default OCPP 1.6 Heartbeat interval that Monta sends to charging stations is now 24 hours instead of 4 minutes. A station sends one Heartbeat a day instead of about 360. OCPP 2.0.1 stations were already on 24 hours.
This works because Monta now decides whether a charging station is online from its WebSocket connection, not from Heartbeats. Monta sends a WebSocket ping every 2 minutes, and any OCPP message or ping response from the station keeps it marked online. If Monta receives nothing for 3 minutes, it closes the connection and the station shows as offline. A clean disconnect is still detected immediately.
Why it matters
Each charging station sends and receives less traffic, and the platform scales better as more stations connect. The saving per station is modest. Online and offline status is not affected.
Who it's relevant for
Operators with OCPP 1.6 charging stations, and teams who read OCPP logs to troubleshoot stations. Neither needs to change anything.
Availability
We are enabling this gradually, one charging station brand at a time. For a station, the new interval applies the next time it sends a BootNotification, or when Monta updates its OCPP configuration, for example after a reconnect. Monta can keep a shorter interval for specific models where needed.
No action is required.
Where to find it
In the OCPP logs for a charging station in Monta Hub. For stations the change has reached, regular Heartbeat messages no longer appear there. Monta Control also shows OCPP logs.
