What's new

This is the first of three updates to the Monta Charge app that remove friction between finding a charger and starting a charge. Part 1 is about charging that works the first time you try it.

  • More reliable RFID cards. We improved how RFID cards are synced and validated in Monta, so a charge key held to a charger is recognised more consistently.

  • EVSE-ID on charger cards. The EVSE-ID is the identifier shown on the physical charger. It now appears on the charger card in the app, so you can match the card to the charger in front of you. The charger name stays the main label and the EVSE-ID sits below it. This includes chargers that are available through a roaming partner, which used to show only the charger name.

  • Fewer steps to your active charge. When you have an ongoing charge at a public charger, the site card on the Chargers tab opens that charge directly, instead of making you go through the charge point screen. When you come back to the Chargers tab, the list refreshes.

  • Clearer marking of RFID-only chargers. We are making it easier to see which chargers can only be started with an RFID card, so drivers are not surprised when the app cannot start them.

Why it matters

Charging usually happens under time pressure. When the app and the charger use the same identifier, and when an ongoing charge is easy to reach, drivers make fewer wrong choices and fewer failed starts. That also means fewer support questions for operators.

Who it's for

Drivers who use the Monta Charge app at public chargers. Operators whose chargers are available through roaming partners will notice that drivers can now identify each charger by its EVSE-ID.

Where to find it

  • EVSE-ID: on the charger cards in the site view.

  • Active charge: on the Chargers tab, on the site card of the charger you are charging at.
