From next week, Powerbank becomes the way home users access Monta's Home+ features. Powerbank charging credits will stop accruing on the same date. These changes only affect users with Monta as operator.
What's changing
Powerbank now unlocks Home+ features. Anyone signed up to Powerbank gets full access to Home+, regardless of whether their charger supports grid services. Opting in is enough.
Charging credits will stop accruing next week. Until now, Powerbank participants have earned small charging credits - capped at around £6 per month - paid as a wallet credit that you could only spend on charging through Monta. From next week, no new credits will be added.
Why this change
Monta, as your operator, doesn't charge any subscription fee to home users - and Home+ features (vehicle integrations, third-party energy data, and integrations) cost real money to run. Powerbank gives us a sustainable way to fund those features: your charger helps support the grid, and that revenue funds Home+ for everyone in the program.
This change reflects how Monta runs its own home-charging service. Each operator on the Monta platform sets their own policies for their users.
What's NOT changing
- Your existing wallet balance stays put. Any credits already in your wallet remain yours and can still be used for charging. We're not touching balances.
- Powerbank participation stays on automatically if you're already signed up. No action needed to keep Home+ access.
- Powerbank itself continues. Your charger still helps balance the grid - and the revenue from that is what funds Home+ for everyone in the programme.

How to opt in to Powerbank
Any charger can sign up. Whether your hardware supports grid-service control, you can opt in to unlock Home+. Hardware compatibility only affects whether your charger actively contributes to the grid.
FAQ
Will I lose money I've already earned?
No. Your wallet balance is untouched. We're only stopping the accrual of new credit.
My charger isn't Powerbank-compatible — can I still get Home+?
Yes. Opting in is what counts.
Can I opt out later?
Yes, anytime from the app. Opting out will remove Home+ access.
Is anything new being shared from my charger?
No. Powerbank uses the same charging-schedule and energy data it always has.
Does this apply to users of other operators?
No. This change applies only to users for whom Monta is the operator. If you have a different operator, they set your policies — please contact them directly with any questions.
My friend uses a different operator — how does this affect them?
Each operator on the Monta platform sets their own policies. We can't speak for other operators — for questions about a specific operator's setup, please contact them directly.
If you need help, contact Support via the Monta app.
