What's new

Starting 30 September 2025, Day-Ahead electricity markets in SDAC (Single Day-Ahead Coupling) countries move from hourly to 15-minute Market Time Units (MTUs). An MTU is the time slice that one market price applies to. Monta now supports electricity cost based on 15-minute MTUs in the Monta Charge app, alongside the existing 60-minute option.

  • Electricity cost settings. If you have a dynamic electricity contract, choose Spot price and then a Price interval of 15 minutes or 60 minutes, to match the agreement with your energy supplier.

  • Home reimbursements. Request and edit home reimbursements based on the 15-minute spot price you actually pay, so a company EV charged at home is reimbursed for the cost of each interval and not an average.

  • SmartCharge. The price forecast on the session screen and the cost and consumption charts on the summary screen show 15-minute intervals when your setting is 15 minutes, so you can see when your vehicle charges and how SmartCharge picked the cheapest intervals.

  • Insights. The Today and 7-day electricity price forecasts, with SmartCharge windows, use 15-minute intervals when you have configured them. The CO2 and renewable energy forecast charts now share the same look.

  • Public and shared chargers. Tap the current electricity price on a charge point's detail screen to open a 12-hour forecast with one bar per 15 minutes, 48 bars in total.

Why it matters

When the market prices in 15 minutes, hourly costing is less accurate. Under EU Directive 2019/944, consumers can request dynamic electricity contracts that match the new settlement frequency, and suppliers with more than 200,000 customers must offer them. Matching the interval keeps your cost tracking and reimbursements in line with what you are actually charged.

How to use it

  1. Open the electricity cost settings for your charge point, from the Insights tab or the charge point settings.

  2. Select Spot price.

  3. In Price interval, choose 15 minutes or 60 minutes.

  4. Save. Charts and forecasts now follow the interval you chose.

Who it's for

Drivers and charge point owners with dynamic electricity contracts, and anyone requesting home reimbursements, in SDAC countries. This includes the Nordics, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Italy.

Good to know

  • The interval option shows for charge points in countries that support spot prices, and for the owner or admin of the charge point. It needs app version 2.72.0 or later.

  • Existing charge points with an electricity cost plan stay on 60 minutes, and this is now shown in the electricity cost settings and in the Spot Price section of the reimbursement screen. For charge points without a plan, you choose the interval yourself.

  • In the interactive price charts, drag sideways to move through intervals and tap a bar to see its price and time.

  • Negative prices are drawn as a thin marker, while the label shows the actual negative value.

  • We also removed the old pop-up about prices including VAT from the electricity cost screen.
