What's new

You can now set up charging rules for drivers directly in Monta Hub. Until now, only the driver could create a charging rule, in the Monta app, so getting an employee's home charger to start on plug-in, with the employer paying, meant asking the employee to do it.

Open an EVSE and you'll see every driver's charging rules on it: who the rule belongs to, what kind of rule it is, who pays, and whether it's active. Create a rule for a driver, pause or resume it, or delete it.

How to use it

  1. Open the EVSE and go to Settings → Configuration.
  2. Under Operational controls, click Charging rules.
  3. Click New, pick the driver and the type (Instant, Scheduled or Smart), and keep Sponsored on if the employer should pay. Click Create rule.

The defaults fit the most common case, an employee's home charger: an active, instant rule, sponsored when the EVSE has a sponsorship. The employee just plugs in and the employer pays.

Good to know

  • Paid by shows who actually pays. If a rule is marked sponsored but the sponsor won't pay, for example because the driver isn't part of the sponsorship, it says Driver pays. Monta Hub won't create a sponsored rule the sponsor wouldn't pay for.
  • Types the EVSE can't run are shown but disabled.
  • Operators with permission to update EVSEs can manage rules, and so can the EVSE's account owners and admins on their own EVSE.
  • Need it on many EVSEs? Select them in the EVSE list and use More → Set reimbursed charging.
  • Every change is recorded in the EVSE's activity log. Drivers still see and can change their rules in the app.
